17th C. Persian Safavid Brass Magic Bowl

A very rare 17th C. Safavid period magic bowl. Of typical form, the exterior finely engraved with cartouches with the signs of the Zodiac against a ground of magic numbers, the rim with an Arabic invocation, the interior with a central omphalos engraved with the names of Muhammad and 'Ali surrounded by an Arabic inscription and further cartouches of talismanic inscriptions and magic numbers.
