18th C. Ottoman Turkish Sword with Kirk Narduban Wootz Damascus Saber Blade

Sold

    Description

A magisterial example with a heavy, wide and deeply curved kirk narduban damascus blade of the finest quality. Inlaid with a maker mark now missing it's gold inlay, but heavily overlaid with gold koftgari inscriptions. The crossguard is unusual in it's Persianate motifs and the blade features a short fuller at the ricasso which is an unusual smiths addition, rarely seen.

    Overall length 38.
