18th C. Thailand Ngao Heavy Cavalry Spear from Ayutthan Period

    Description

    An exceptional and rare Thai spearhead from the 18th c. of a Thai heavy cavalryofficer fighting from platforms on elephants.

    The iron spearhead is in original condition and appears to be laminated. The hardwood shaft is in exceptional condition and retains the original steel and silver mounted butt. The spearhead collar is finely crafted from silver with a silver crossguard.

    It is exceptionally rare to find an original length spear of this for with the original silver mounted scabbard chiseled in silver with flame decoration of Thai design. The patina is untouched on all the silver.

    Overall length is 90. Spearhead is 22 in length and 1 1/4 in width.
