19th C. Qing Period Chinese Matchlock Musket Rifle with inlaid stock
|( ID: cf653 )|
An extremely rare Chinese matchlock musket. This example is one of the finest of these that I've encountered, and has original oddly shaped uncut stock, inlaid with bone scales, finely detailed. The barrel is of interesting design starting at the base of a very large diameter and then slimming considerably to the size of a nickel or so.The stock is also inlaid with a strip of buffalo horn, inlaid itself, with florets. The mechanism is fully functioning.
Just a beautiful example of this very rare type of rifle.
Overall length is 72", barrel is 64".
