19th C. Egyptian Khedive "Ironmen" Helmet Khulah Khud
|( ID: ia999 )|
A good example of a battle helmet worn by Egyptian forces in the mid 19th C. This type was made in Birmingham England, for the bodyguard of the Khedive of Egypt, known as the Zirkhagi (Iron Men). In some cases Sudanese irregulars under the Mahdi captured these helmets and adapted them for their own cloth armors, and today some can be seen paired with Sudanese armor.
This example is in fine condition with the original chainmail camail and with nasal.
