A very uncommon 19th C. Algerian or North Africa yataghan. This example has it's grips in very fine original condition with almost no losses at all. The blade is a Turkish Ribbon achieved by forge welding of several twisted steel rods to one ingot. Very finely made and vivid pattern throughout. There is a maker mark cartouche on the ricasso of the blade as well. The scabbard is pleasing as well with chiseled and repoussed metal designs. An common type of yataghan. Overall length is 33", blade is 25".
