A 19th C. Ottoman Turkish agate hilted dagger with the original scabbard and much gold remaining in the hardstone grip. These are a type of Turkish dagger known from the 19th C. but their origin and the type of stone a mystery though it is likely a form of agate. This example has a two piece stone grip with gold zarnishan inlays and small rubies inlaid as well, with a bird figural pommel. The blade is a type of sham wootz.
