19th C. Persian Wootz Watered Steel Shamshir Sword

A nice 19th C. Persian shamshir with a fine watered steel blade of typical Persian style of yellow wootz or jauhar. The handle is composed of bone scales with iron fittings. The scabbard is timber covered in thin leather with german silver fittings. The blade is a particularly good example of Persian style wootz and retains some gold koftgari designs at the base.
Overall length is 35", blade is 29".
