19th C. Southern Philippines Moro Kris sword

( ID: os993 )

A good example of a late 19th C. southern Philippines or Moro kris sword of fine large proportions. The blade is straight and the entire example is fresh from an untouched collection of Philippines swords.  The scabbard is missing a small piece near the ricasso and the rattan is loose but overall the sword is tight and the pommel is an interesting rounded type less common than the cockatoo style found on most examples.  The blade also displays tell tale signs of lamination and could be cleaned up nicely to display a laminated pattern.

Overall length is 28", blade is 22".
