Excellent Wootz 17th C. Indian Mughal Patissa with Wootz Watered Blade
|( ID: is365 )|
A fantastic sword. This is a much better than usual 17th C. Indian patissa. Most remaining examples generally are devoid of decoration and exhibit blackened fittings. This example is not like that. It features finely etched and chiseled fittings, and very clean, for a 400 year old sword, watered steel wootz blade. The edges are still extremely sharp. the middle iron reinforcing section jutts out almost half an inch and is very formidable. Truly one of the most interesting and alien looking weapons in the Indian arsenal. 37" in length, 33" blade length, and 2" in width at the widest point near the tip.
