An18th C. Indian Mughal tulwar with a fine damascus blade retaining a gold inlaid cartouche. This example is mounted with a handle richly decorated in thick gold koftgari which remains in nearly 100% condition. The blade has a fine wootz pattern, which appears to be a mix of sham and crystalline damascus, quite uncommon. The sword is well balanced overall and of very pleasing appearance.
Overall length is 34, blade is 29.
