A Caucasian blunderbuss, made at Tbilisi c. 1840. Select hardwood stock with active grain with characteristic separately-applied forearm, inlaid overall with notched mother of pearl rhombuses and fine khattam-work rosettes, composed of green-stained ivory, horn and brass in geometrical patterns, as well as brass studs. The fine, Caucasian lock inlaid overall with scrolling motifs in gold showing minor wear, the barrel with typical expanded muzzle forged of damascus steel and deeply chiseled cartouches containing hunting lions, birds and flowers, the background covered entirely in sheet gold showing minor losses.
Overall length 20”. Condition generally fine with light wear.
