Fine 19th C. Ottoman Turkish or Syrian Shamshir with gold inlaid sham wootz blade
|( ID: is662 )|
A finely crafted 19th C. Turkish shamshir with a nicely gold inlaid blade with a long detailed inscription. The blade is sham wootz and very clean. The wootz pattern can be seen throughout the blade.
The hilt is very nice translucent horn, and the fittings are silver overlaid iron and all en suite, the scabbard has a small piece of wood missing from the forte area of the blade near the middle, but is completely structurally solid.
A nice example of this type of sword.
Overall length is 37", blade is 31".
