( ID: is689 )

One of the most desirable swords of the Ottoman Turkish arsenal. This example is in nearly perfect condition with a fine crystalline wootz blade. The blade retains some gold inlay at the base of the yelman and the wootz pattern can be seen throughout with a damascus pattern forming the hardened ricasso for the first few inches.  The handle is made of very finely grained honey colored horn with a brass crossguard.

Dates from the early 19th C.

Overall length is 33 1/2", blade is 28".
