A beautiful early 19th C. French shamshir or mamluke style officers saber with a large and well made handle. This example features French made style guard of gilded brass and brass fittings with a worn velvet covering. The blade is a very fine condition watered steel wootz shamshir blade with gold koftgari designs at the ricasso in 90% original condition. The wootz pattern is vivid and of very high quality.
Overall length is 37.5", blade is 31".
