Huge European 18th C. Lobster Claw Powder Flask

( ID: ea1060 )

A massive 10" long lobster claw mounted as a powder flask. In the 18th and early 19th centuries novelty powder flasks were made from a variety of different materials including whole small tortoises and in some cases oversized lobster claws. This example likely dates to the late 18th- mid 19th C. and is mounted with pewter or white metals mounts.

Very decorative example and normally found without the smaller claw this example retains the whole claw.
