An absolutely gorgeous Safavid shamshir with a heavy gorgeous wootz blade, of gentle curvature dating it as Safavbid and possibly older. The blade has a gorgeous pronounced wootz pattern which is very highly visible all throughout. The crossguard has the particularly desirable dragonhead quillons and antler scale grips with a wootz handle strip. The blade also has a gold inlaid makers marks and imprecation to Allah. The scabbard is later but has original scabbard fittings and is of gorgeously tooled leather. OAL length is 37", blade is 31" and 1 1/4" wide.
