Magnificent mid 18th C. Antique Chinese Qianlong Officers Sword with carved iron dragon tunkou
|( ID: cs710 )|
A truly exceptional antique Chinese Qianlong period sword and one of the few genuine examples of this quality offered on the market in the past several years. This example dates from the mid 18th C. Qianlong period. The hilt is composed of the traditional style of vinuous carved gilded copper, or tombac, fittings. These fittings are beautiful carved and have dragons throughout.
The blade is extraordinarily rare and represents one of two known in the world. The other example featured in the book "Dragons in Chinese Art" (reference and photo available on request). The carved iron tunkou is carved en suite with the blade and is of one piece. It displays a stylized early Qing period style dragon. Truly exceptional quality work and investment quality.
Included is traditionally custom made wooden scabbard that can be mounted with traditional fittings and sharkskin.
Overall length is 32", blade is 25".
