17th C. Renaissance Period German or Saxon Long Hunting Sword

17th C. Renaissance Period German or Saxon Long Hunting Sword

( ID: es864 )

A rare sword, this 17th - 18th C. German sword is likely from Saxony judging by the judicious use of deer horn and antler for the interesting decoration reminiscent of Silesian work from the 16th-18th centuries. The blade is a rapier blade with an interesting off set fullering pattern more reminiscent of Caucasian kindjals.  The sword is in fine condition, though there is some light splitting along the length of the scabbard and there is a chip of wood missing from one of the quillons. O...

( ID: rs867 )

A truly rare sword. 18th C. Imperial Russian swords are very rare to find especially dated. This example is a textbook example of the Model 1765 Artillery Sword of the second variant. The brass patina on the handle is beautiful aged and completely untampered with. The blade is also a well known style and is dated 1777 under the crown of Catherine the Great, and maker marked "SB" on the obverse side under her crown as well. Rare 17th- early 18th C. German or Polish Axe with battle captured Ottoman Turkish 17th C. Axehead

( ID: ea865 )

An interesting historical oddity, this axe dates from late 17th C. through the early 18th C. Germany, likely Saxony judging by the staghorn inlay, or Poland judging by the syncretic design. The axehead itself is a very rare and early Ottoman Turkish head with a makers mark deeply impressed and brass inlaid designs on both sides of the head. The counter-punch is beautifully designed in an old form that European smiths often copied, particularly in Poland. Overall length is 26" , axeh...
