Rare 17th C. South Indian Tanjore or Mysore Hindu Bronze Yali Mace Axe

( ID: ia835 )

A very uncommon and early, 17th C. Hindu Indian cast bronze mace with a beautifully chiseled yali for  the mace head. This example was likely gilded at one point but now only the handle has the remains of the original gilding which would have been very beautiful.

Overall length is 24".
