RARE 1820s period Silver U.S. Naval dirk W/ original 1820 Sailor hat

( ID: ad384 )
A very rare set of items, both originally purchased from an old Connecticut estate, and the property of an early member of the family. The dagger is a very well known type of early 19th C, circa 1820s, U.S. naval dagger. An exact similar example can be found in Peterson book "The American Sword". Very fine condition silver work, with a darkened blade. The best part of the set is the early 19th C. American naval sailors hat. This is the exact type featured on the cover of "Boarders Away". This piece is marked on the inside "Seaman Hat Co. Ipson Cornwall Hats New York". A really great set for the advanced early naval collector.
