Rare Mid to late 19th C. Imperial German Admirals Sword with damascus blade
|( ID: es525 )|
A very uncommon and rare Imperial German naval sword with a damascus blade from the mid 19th C. This example is monogrammed to a very famous German admiral who served in Tsingtao China, Von Haxthausen, and is of much earlier design than almost all other Imperial German naval swords on the market.
The blade is German damascus steel with beautiful etchings throughout the lower half of the blade retaining much of their gold. The hilt is very finely made of fire gilded brass with his monogram on the inside of the guard. The scabbard is very unusual and is made of blued steel with gilded brass mounts. Very rare for Imperial German swords of this type, especially for naval swords.
