RAREST Chinese Pre WWII Inspector Generals Dirk with Chinese made twistcore Damascus blade

Sold

    Description

A truly gorgeous dagger made for a very high ranking officer in the Chinese Nationalist or Warlord armies before WWII. This example rivals in quality any of the highest quality German damascus daggers. The fittings are beautifully chiseled and gilt brass and remain in 95% condition. The handle is covered in thick knobby rayskin which is in excellent condition as well and retains all of the bras wires.

However, the blade is a masterpiece of Chinese blade making, and is better than any German damascus blade I've seen. It is essentially a miniature jian blade, with a diamond cross section, but is one of the sharpest blades I've handled and displays the distinct Chinese twistcore style of damascus that is one of the rarest damascus patterns to see on any old blade. The pictures show the pattern as it is very lively and active throughout the blade and must have been the work of a real master blade forger.
