Spectacular 17th C. Persian, Mamluk or Ottoman gold and silver inlaid metal plate

Sold

    Description

A beautiful piece of the finest level of workmanship. We believe that this is likely a cover for a special Quran box or for the cover of a specially commissioned Quran.

It likely dates to the 18th C. or earlier due to the level of quality of the inlay and chiseling work and the use of true gold as opposed to copper or brass for later Mamluke revival pieces. It is a true work of the inlayers art and would be a significant addition to any Islamic art collection.

    Dimensions are 8 X 4.
