Superb 18th C. Indian Mughal Katar Dagger

18th C. Indian katar of North Indian Mughal form. This example remains in exceptional condition with nearly all of the gold koftgari which is thicker and partially of zarnishan or inlaid type. This indicates an earlier dating, coupled with the fine lines of the blade and original polish. The katar is almost certainly wootz but the original polish has obscured the pattern.

The blade is thickly armor pierced.
