Unique 18th C. Mughal Hindu Indian Wootz Khanda Firangi Sword

Sold

    Description

A fine example of an early 18th C. Indian firangi of rather unique hilt design. The typical khanda hilt is of finer quality than normal with a beautiful wootz pattern visible in the windows of the upper part of the hilt. The guard of the hilt is also pierced and opem with an arrow design of fine quality and delicate execution. The grip is wrapped in silver wire.

The blade is wootz and is of the firangi style with a pattern visible throughout.

A fine and rare firangi with wootz blade and wootz khanda hilt. It is quite rare to have a wootz firangi blade of fine flexible dimensions, as most of these were European imported blades.

    Overall length 44.
