    Description

A beautiful Renaissance, 16-17th C. period boar hunting axe. This example shows beautiful age in the carved and weatehred wood with the large carved boar head finial, inset with carved actual boar teeth. The axe head is very finely forged and has been with the haft the entire working life which can be seen by looking at the top of the head where it is attached to the haft with old hand made rose cut nails. Some pieces have a commanding presence, and this is one of them. A wonderful example for the advanced collector. 15 overall length, axe head is 5 1/2 from tip to obverse end.
