17th C. Renaissance Period German or Saxon Long Hunting Sword
Status: Sold · Region: Europe · Type: Swords
A rare sword, this 17th - 18th C. German sword is likely from Saxony judging by the judicious use of deer horn and antler for the interesting decoration reminiscent of Silesian work from the 16th-18th centuries. The blade is a rapier blade with an interesting off set fullering pattern more reminiscent of Caucasian kindjals. The sword is in fine condition, though there is some light splitting along the length of the scabbard and there is a chip of wood missing from one of the quillons.
Overall length is 38, blade is 28.
