18-19th C. Persian Wootz Tabar Axe
Status: Sold · Region: Middle East, Ottoman Turkey, Persia · Type: Other
A gorgeous and large 18th-19th C. Persian Qajar era wootz tabar axe. This example has a large wootz blade embellished with gold inlays and very fine chiselling work. The counterbalance is interestingly made of brass dragonheads similar to Persian shamshir and kilich crossguards, and Indian makara finials. Overall a very nice example of the type. 31 length, 9 cutting edge diameter.
