A very fine mid 18th C. French gold inlaid pattern smallsword. This example is similar to the previous example, and has the original scabbard with two original fittings displaying the same design as the handle itself. The handle is pierced and chiseled and overlaid with gold most of which is original and in excellent condition. The blade is etched Vaincre ou Mourier, a typical 18th C. slogan. Overall length is 38, blade is 31.
