# 18th C. Mysore Wootz Spear

Status: Sold · Region: India · Type: Swords

A rare and very nice 18th C. Mysore or Tanjore Indian spear. This example has a very large and clean wootz (watered steel) blade with an active pattern throughout. There is one weak spot at the bottom of theblade, but the blade is completely structurally sound and displays a very interesting flexibility from the quality of the steel used in the construction. The handle is the particularly nice as well and appears to be the end of a spear shaft which was attached to the spear to make its use easier. Overall condition is very nice. 44 length, 29 length of cutting edges.
