18th C. Ottoman Turkish Pallasch
Status: Sold · Region: Middle East, Ottoman Turkey, Persia · Type: Swords
A very fine and rare Ottoman Turkish or Hungarian fighting sword. This is a very interesting example of an 18th C. European most likely German or Hungarian damascus, layered steel blade, mounted in Ottoman Turkish mounts with a horn pistol grip handle and traditional brass and ass skin scabbard fittings. The blade is very fine with the layered steel damascus pattern fully visible throughout and some darkening in places, but otherwise is in good condition. The handle has an old repair with silver wire near the crossguard which has been cleaned. A very nice old fighting sword, probably mid 18th c. to early 19th c. at the latest. Overall length - 38 Blade - 32
