19th C. Caucasian Circassian Kindjal Dagger

Status: Sold · Type: Daggers

A very fine and proper mid 19th C. Circassian Cossack kindjal. This example has very fine silver niello mounts in very nice condition with an old copper repair at the chape. The blade is a real beauty and quite rare for these types of kindjals which normally have very plain blades. This example has a gold inlaid and multi fullered blade. One either side of the ricasso is thcik gold koftgari, one side a presentation inscription and on the other Caucasian style floral designs. The fullers also displays a very lively faux damascus pattern throughout as well. The blade is a serious and quick thick fighting blade as well, not the usual flimsy style normally found. OAL 21, blade is 14 1/2
