19th C. Persian Qajar Axe
Status: Sold · Region: Islamic Antiques · Type: Other
A nice and very good looking 19th C. Qajar tabar axe. This example retains almost 99% of the gold koftgari decoration on the axe head in addition to the niello decoration on the calligraphy on the blade. The blade has a mechanical etched damascus which looks very fine against the blade and contrasts nicely with the gold and niello decoration.
The handle is in very fine condition as well with a chiselling in a spiral pattern throughout the length.
28" length, 8 1/2 diameter of axehead.
