Excellent quality antique Qajar Period Wootz Persian Shield Sipar Dhal

A beautifully made example of a late 18th C.- early 19th C. Persian shield. This example is two piece with very finely carved surfaces overlaid in gold and with silver koftgari along the rim over the inscriptions. The iron is wootz or watered steel some of the design which can be seen in the empty spaces. Certainly this example could benefit from a cleaning.Fine quality for this type of shield.
