# Fantastic 19th C. Udaipur style Indian tegha tulwar sword

Status: Sold · Region: India · Type: Swords

A truly fantastic antique 19th C. example with a beautiful gold koftgari handle with matching scabbard mounts. The inside of the pommel shows a chiseled off space which is where there would have been a Devangari inscription. Likely the sword was picked up by a Muslim warrior who was offended by the Hindu script and inscription. Otherwise the sword is in excellent condition with nearly no koftgari lossses. The large heavy tegha styleblade is a work of the smith's art made with an excellent damascus pattern highly visible throughout and with a maker marks at the forte filled in with red wax.
