A nice 19th C. Hungarian magnate sword. This example has a very finely made handle with red velvet grips and brass cast lionhead pommel. The scabbard has brass fittings and is covered in red velvet matching the handle. The scabbard mounts also have nice colored stones or glass set into the mounts. The blade appears to be a shamshir blade which was re-shaped to fit into this scabbard and the tip rounded off.

In general an elegant 19th C. or earlier Hungarian magnate sword.
