# Ottoman Turkish Silver Jambiya Dagger

Status: Sold · Region: Middle East, Ottoman Turkey, Persia · Type: Daggers

A massive 19th C. Ottoman Turkish jambiya dagger, nearly the size of a short sword, entirely composed of chiseled and repoussed silver with decoration of mosques and arabesques all throughout. These classic and large Ottoman jambiya daggers with the flared and pointed handle grips are often attributed stylistically to the Balkans, where they are usually made of walrus ivory. This example entirely in silver is more typically in style Ottoman Turkish.

The blade is of large size and of fine damascus layered steel construction with a raised medial ridge. Overall condition is fine with minimal losses or dents to the silverwork.
