RARE 19th C. Qianlong Bone Mounted Shuangjian Double Swords with nicest sharkskin scabbard

Status: Sold · Region: China, East Asia, Tibet · Type: Antiques

Very large pair with the original scabbard. Very fine condition, with gold and silver overlay on both sides of each blade, and scrimshawed bone grips on both sides. It has one of the nicest scabbards I've seen on a Chinese sword. Pinkish sharkskin with white dyed flowers. Really nice, old and original. The only two small issues is that a small piece of bone is chipped from one side of one of the handles, and the bottom scabbard fitting is missing. Very large overall size at 38, blades are 30 each. Nice and heavy example.
