A fine and quite rare ancestral 17th C. Norisada mounted blade. There were a few generations of smiths by this name living in Yamashiro Province in the early Edo Period about 1650-1670.

This example is in very nice condition and in good polish. The blade has two peg holes and has the old style flat tang cutoff. The handle is a standard army gunto mount, and the tsuba has mixed metals inlays on one side and is missing one of the other side. The scabbard appears to the interior scabbard of one that was mounted with a leather combat cover, which can easily be obtained nowadays.

38" OAL, 25" cutting edge
