WWII Japanese Officers Gunto Katana Sword

Status: Sold · Region: Japan · Type: Other

A good WWII Japanese Army officers gunto katana sword. This example is straight out of the attic, and the only thing I did was add a chopstick to replace screw that was being used to hold the handle to the tang. The condition is quite fine with all the original fittings, which are in good condition and marked "100". The blade displays a lively hamon which can be seen in the pictures, but is more difficult to see one side which has some age on it, mainly some scuffing, the edge also displays a number of nicks but nothing too deep. The scabbard has the original leather combat cover which appears never to have been taken off.

The tang is signed as well.

Overall length is 39 1/2", blade is 27".
