An exceptionally rare piece of headgear this shako was worn by an officer in theEast Asian Expeditionary Corps (and its later successors, the East Asian Occupation Brigade and East Asian Detachment). In basically perfectcondition, this example retains the original cockade in red, black and silver wire, and is stamped on the inside of the brim with the correct arsenal markings for the East Asian Battalion, and with a stamped makers mark on the inside of the top of the shako. The material is very interesting made of hardened leather with a textured surface.
The frontplate is in superb condition with almost all the remaining original gilding.
Near impossible to upgrade and from a very fine collection of German, French, Belgian and Englishcolonial uniforms. Wood display head is available for purchase seperately.
