A very fine early 16th C. pre-Koto period katana sword. The blade is in wonderful condition with a beautiful undulating hamon with both nie and nioi visible. The tsuba is quite an old example also and appears to be contemporary with the blade, and is squared shape. The habaki is very finely proportioned and cut out with the mon of the samurai that would have worn this sword. The tang is signed with tHe signature "Kunimitsu" and the nagasa is 26".
Overall length is 38".
