A very fine Korean matchlock pistol dating to the 19th C. These examples are very rare and are very characteristic with an armory mark at the base of the barrel inlaid in gold or silver and often crudely done compared to similar Japanese work. Many of these pistols were made in Japan and traded to Korea where they would be inlaid with the typical Korean armory or good luck marks at the base of the barrel.
It is deeply uncommon to find an example of this type and this one was purchased directly from a Korean war vet's family.
