Fine 18th C. Indian Mughal Katar Dagger of Rare Form, wootz watered steel blade

Sold

    Description

A rare 18th C. Indian Katar of tiger claw form. A known type this example has been ascribed to Udaipur by design of koftgari however this piece has a chiseled iron grip more of a southern or central Indian form, possibly Deccani. Overall the effect is quite pleasing as the deeply curved and thickly armor pirced blade creates a particularly vicious katar dagger.

    Overall length is 13.
