A fine large 19th C. Indian pesh kabz. This example is mounted with hardstone grip scalesof cream color and fine heavy weight, which are inlaid with gold or gilded copper kundun work with stone inlays of various colors. The handle bolster is iron with remains of gold koftgari, and the blade is Indian wootz, now somewhat obscured from age.
The scabbard is finely constructed with a timber core, covered in red leather, and with a delicately chiseled silver frame, with peacock designs, floral and cloud scroll designs, anda Garuda or demon, chape finial.
Very fine workmanship overall.
