A beautiful 18C. Mughal Indian tulwar in very fine condition. The hilt is richly overlaid in thick gold, and the blade is a beautiful wootz watered steel, displaying several types of watering. At the base is tight richly watering while in the middle of the blade the watering is looser but undulating and very pleasing to the eye, at the end of the blade, the last ten inches or so, the wootz becomes tight again. A very unique style that was undoubtedly done by the bladesmith to produce this effect. The cartouche is beautifully inlaid into the blade and of very high quality work.
