A classic example of a late 18th C. Turkish yataghan mounted in silver engraved in fine niello decoration on the handle and ricasso reinforcements with inscriptions in niello along the spine.
The handle and scabbard are of heavy silver and the original silver carrying strap is also present in fine condition. The blade is clean and has the stamped makers mark deeply inset. The handle has fine niello designs remaining nearly entirely present and in good condition throughout.
A very fine example of a classic Ottoman and early yataghan in excellentcondition. Very elegant and pleasing form and shape.
