An exceptionally rareQing period Chinese sword to an officer or soldier from the White Banner regiment. The Qing army was divided into 8 banners. Previously viewed swords of this type have displayed Chinese calligraphy denoting their use by the White Banner, one of the 8 regiments of the Qing Army. The uniform decoration throughout the entire sword, on the completely original scabbard and handle fittings, as well as the shape of the cross guard itself, displays further evidence that these swords were likely carried by officers of the White Banner regiment. The decoration throughout the sword is of a spoked wheel design, with four quarters. The handle wrapping is completely original and especially fine with the original wrapping style. The handle is just slightly shaky but this can be easily fixed.
